Effective Appraisals

A session aimed at staff that may be required to carry out formal appraisals on behalf of their organisation. This training will provide supervisors, managers and HR professionals with the essential skills to create the link between effective appraisal and improved staff performance.

We will show you how to manage difficult conversations and how to conduct successful appraisals.

Content:

  • How to prepare for performance appraisal meetings.
  • Appraisal meetings – the features of an effective meeting and key tips and techniques for managing the process, including balancing developmental (negative) with positive feedback to motivate action.
  • Effective listening and questioning skills.
  • Setting objectives (SMART and linking individual objectives with wider team and
    organisational objectives).
  • Ensuring consistency, fairness and objectively throughout the appraisal process.

Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss scenarios with plenty of opportunity for questions throughout. You will be guided through this half day session by our experienced trainers who will be happy to discuss things further with you during or after the session.
