Jöttnar was created by two former Royal Marine commandos who specialised in mountain and extreme cold weather warfare. Inspired by a fierce Arctic winter, the entrepreneurial duo wanted to develop an outerware range that would protect against the brutality of challenging terrain, while capturing the simple elegance of the Scandinavian landscape. Based in the Welsh capital, the business has gone from strength to strength, adding to its product lines and driving quality and innovation.
The brief
Jöttnar needed a full-service HR and accountancy offering that would enable the founders to focus on their core business of design, technology and manufacturing. Having targeted and secured more than £1.2million in equity raises, the business needed robust financial forecasting and planning support, along with bespoke financial reporting. As it developed and grew its headcount, Jöttnar also needed general HR services to cover all elements of the employment relationship.
Our approach
Joining Jöttnar in its early stages in 2013 meant that we were able to get beneath the skin of the business at an important point in its development. A key component of our work was supporting its equity raises through forecasting and planning, as well as supplying detailed financial reporting on key metrics for investors. We continue to lead on the firm’s R&D tax credit claims and, as the business has grown and taken on more staff, we have provided HR support. This has ranged from drawing up employment contracts to providing ad-hoc employment advice.
